What now for Govanhill Baths? Govanhill Baths Community Trust 99 Calder Street, G42 7RA Glasgow, United Kingdom Closed for more than 15 years, the Baths has had a renewed life as a vibrant and well-used arts, culture, and wellbeing venue for Govanhill and the wider Southside. After all those years of campaigning, the money has finally been secured to refurbish and reopen the facility as the Bath house it once was. With the old life as swimming facility and new life as creative hub colliding, what will the Baths look like at reopening in 2018? The clock is now ticking until closure changes the Baths forever. Join us for this panel event to discuss the new era of Govanhill Baths, asking difficult questions about the arts, wellbeing, and community empowerment in working class communities such as Govanhill. Panellists: Lesley Riddoch, award-winning journalist Aamer Anwar, leading human rights lawyer Loki, hip hop artist and writer Nicola Fisher, Save Our Pool campaigner and Vice President of EIS speaking in a personal capacity Chaired by poet Jim Monaghan

This event Will Be On youtube 2008: Oil at $147 / barrel 2015: Oil at $30 / barrel a public meeting to discuss the drivers for this rollercoaster and the impacts now and in the future. With Dr Alister Hamilton Register at https://oil25may.eventbrite.co.uk/ Dr Alister Hamilton, member of Transition Edinburgh, avid watcher of Peak Oil scenarios and Senior Lecturer in the University of Edinburgh School of Engineering will share his latest analysis of the data and the trends. What does the current global glut mean for Peak Oil / Oil Depletion? What is really happening with OPEC and the Saudi super oil ministry? Will the transition to renewables - wind and solar - really cut demand? What is likely impact of electric vehicles on demand for oil? Would Unconventional Gas extracted from mainland Britain really be cheap? Mary Church, Head of Campaigns for Friends of the Earth Scotland, will respond and draw out the key issues to watch. Alan Rankine (born 17 May 1958) is a Such a great interview coming up for you on Monday 16th May, 12pm, with Alan Rankine - the musical brains behind The Associates. What can you write or say about the Associates that hasn't already been covered or documented? We'll leave it to Björk... "The Associates went there. They didn't edit their nature out of it. They had pagan qualities. I read a book about Billy MacKenzie, and it said that all the lyrics were composed in the moment, not written down, like a stream of consciousness. For Medulla, I thought about using Billy MacKenzie's voice, and his father sent me old multi-tracks, the original tapes, and I wanted to work on it, celebrating voices, maybe do a duet with him. But when it came to it, I was too sacred."

Glasgow Remembers the Spanish Civil War A memorial day to remember the stand against fascism that Scots took in Spain.

On September 9th, Glasgow Anti-Fascist Action will be hosting an event to remember the Anti-Fascist volunteer fighters who came from Spain and all around the world (Including many from Glasgow) to fight General Franco and his Fascist army who made an attempt to overthrow a Socialist and anti-monarchist government that was democratically elected by the people of Spain. We want to remember the Anti-Fascist volunteer fighters that fought and died for freedom, democracy and equality in Spain and the people's armies of the CNT-FAI, The International Brigade etc. that fought against the tyranny of Fascism and for a better world without Capitalism and class-society. We also want to use this event as a reminder that the Fascist groups of today like the late National Action, The Scottish Defence League and Britain First will not be tolerated in today's society and will be smashed by any means necessary and to remind Fascist and Racist demagogues like Donald Trump, Le Pen and Ramzan Kadyrov will always be met with militant opposition from the people and that the war against Capitalism continues. The event will be initially held at George Square and then we will march to the La Pasionara monument with speeches from our invited speakers and then a ceremony with an ending rendition of the Internationale by all involved at the event to remember the fallen heroes and comrades that gave their life for a better world. Remember to share this event around and invite all the folk you know and get the number of attendees up. We want to show the world that Glasgow remembers the fallen of the Spanish Civil-War and we that we remember the ultimate sacrifice they made to defend the working-class and democracy. Thank you and ¡No pasarán! comrades! ✊️

20 YRS of Gal Gael SPEAKERS: Sir Harry Burns, John Carnochan, Karyn McClusky and Alastair McIntosh. Contributions from our volunteers, participants, bambassadors. Short film of our long agos by Tom Wall.

20 YEARS OF GALGAEL - MON 24 JULY - 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. - CCA, Sauchiehall Street SPEAKERS: Sir Harry Burns, John Carnochan, Karyn McClusky, our own Alastair McIntosh Contributions from our volunteers, participants, bambassadors. Short film of our long agos by Tom Wall. It’s kinda hard to believe that we’ve been around for 20 years now. Well, officially at least! Unofficially we’ve been around even longer, which is perhaps a whole other story. We hope you can join us for a bit of a gathering as we reflect on the last 20 years and hear from brainy folk how they would describe the contribution GalGael’s work makes today. Govan, Scotland and the world have changed since we started out and not being ones for resting on our laurels, we’ll also look to the next 20 years and the potential of GalGael to meet new challenges. We’d particularly love the event to bring together those who’ve been part of getting us to where we are now, participants from our programmes - past and present and those who could be part of supporting what we’re yet to become. We also want to share with you our Charter - the outcome of a truly collaborative process to get really clear about what matters to us and why. The Charter will help us hold fast to what makes us GalGael as we cross this threshold in to the next twenty years. We can’t wait to see what you think and invite you to join us in sharing some hopes for the future. There’s limited space so please RSVP by getting a free Eventbrite ticket by clicking the link above.

Brian was recently found not guilty of a breech of the peace for his peaceful intervention against the hideous weapons of intergenerational horror. He is now however, in custody for refusing a court order to remain away from the peace camp at Faslane. You can support Brian and his long time comrade Angela Zelter here and also by never voting for any party that supports the continued purchase and maintenance of nuclear arms. Gone Native - Bobby Nicholson and Kevin Gore Live interview with the songwriting duo from their show at the Edinburgh Fringe

An interview with songwriting duo Bobby Nicholson and Kevin Gore who are performing their Gone Native show every night through the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The presentation of their songs is explicitly pro-independence and they are keen to make their show available to Yes groups throughout Scotland. Reviewing this year's show, the List gave them 4 stars and said: "Both Scottish Independence campaigners, these Edinburgh songwriters pin their colours to the mast from the off, but their humour and humility means it never feels hectoring." 20 YEARS OF GALGAEL - MON 24 JULY - 11 a.m.

Scottish Independence Convention Presents The Reassembly Elaine C Smith will be hosting the many guests from across the country and the movement... and we will then be able to get down to some serious discussion about the way ahead...

Exactly two years on from the referendum, The Scottish Independence Convention are having a social event for all interested Indy groups to launch the next phase... to bring us all together, encourage dialogue, listen to some speeches, poetry, comedy and enjoy some music. We need all that energy, artistic endeavour, hard work and good old political discussion to get started again ( though it has never really gone away) and we need to establish a gathering place for all the groups, individuals, artists and ideas that made the Yes movement so vital in the journey towards self determination and Independence. Elaine C Smith will be hosting the many guests from across the country and the movement... and we will then be able to get down to some serious discussion about the way ahead.

The YES Movement A non party afiliated rally for Scottish Independence

The Yes Movement Rally on the 18th of September 2016, this is being held at Glasgow Green from 12pm until 8pm. This is going to be a day to remember. Why come? Why Volunteer? I would like to tell thee. Have any of you ever felt like you were here, to do something great with your life? Well you are and this is why we are all here. We are here to change the world. It is no easy task, but to us it is clear that the task is ours. That is why they called us the Bravest in all the stories. We will show the world there is another way to live, that social and cultural change is inevitable and that a new way of doing things is being birthed. A great human being once said 'Be the change you wish to see in the world'. For too long we have been realising that the entire system is corrupt. We have waited for those in power to change things, For someone to stand up and do what's right. None of them have, not really. We are creating this Movement together. As Humanity we can free ourselves from this system that none of us agreed to when we were born here, by taking our power back and in doing that, we show others how to free themselves from the Elitist system. To put it bluntly, the days of working to pay bills and die are over. We want more for ourselves and the generations to come. We stand for Equality, Contributing and Pioneering our own future. There are new way's to do things now and we all know that, we must venture into the unknown and discover 'HOW?' together. Please email [email protected] Your expertise as a wonderful human being is required if you are a First Aider, Stage Hand, Steward, Chaperone or you would like to set up a stall for the day. Please also feel free to contact us if you have any suggestions/ ideas, or if you would like to help us in anyway. All contributions are most welcomed. The system we live under is broken, we're not fixing it. We want to create a new one. Go bravely friends. We are the change bringers. Please Share this message, We look forward to hearing from you.

Hope Over Fear are organizing this 2015 event to coincide with the anniversary of the referendum and to make a clear statement that our journey to full Independence for our nation continues. Our First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon has stated clearly that it will be the people of Scotland who will determine if and when there is an #indyref2. Lets fill Freedom Square and the surrounding streets of Glasgow on September 19th to make our voices heard. 2018 is an ideal year for #indyref2 as it is clear in terms of elections north and south of the border. (2016 Scottish parliament, 2017 Scottish council, 2019 English council and 2020 General election.) Join us on the Square with the message, #Indyref2 2018.

HOPE OVER FEAR: SEIZE THE DAY RALLY George Square, Glasgow. Lots of great speakers including Mark McGowan, The Artist Taxi Driver plus great music...

The Hope Over Fear campaign will not shirk its responsibilities. On May 7th 2015 we have a unique opportunity in Scotland to wipe out the blue, yellow and red Tories in one fell swoop. We can electorally punish those who lined up with the billionaires and millionaires to lie, deceive and bully our nation into submission. We are not too small, too poor or too scared to move forward into a new and better world and by uniting the pro-Scotland and anti-Establishment vote in May 2015 we can realise our dreams. Bring the family and enjoy another great day out while listening to the speakers from all political backgrounds and on the importance of using your vote wisely at the general election. There will also be many amazingly talented artists and musicians for you to enjoy on the day. In the words of Gerry Cinnamon's inspiring anthem of our movement, "Hope Over Fear, Carpe Diem". Let’s seize the day in 2015. NOTE: Mark McGowan, The Artist Taxi Driver will be one of the speakers :) FACEBOOK EVENT: https://www.facebook.com/events/401561463337441/

Red Road Flats Demolition RED ALERT DANGER DANGER Covering the controversial demolition of the Red Road Flats

ALSO here for protesters live stream within the danger zone http://livestre.am/5dlJI Highly contentious issue with many locals against the blowing up of these 6 flats at once and want them brought down floor by floor. The flats could still contain asbestos; they are very close to residential areas including a nursery and there is worry about water and gas pipes being burst. See WikiPedia link for more info and criticism of previous Red Row flats that have been blown up. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Road_Flats

BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 Around 1:30 - 3:30pm BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 - The People's Voice!

BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 - The People's Voice! Sunday, June 29 at 1:30pm - 3:30pm BBC Scotland Studios, Pacific Quay G51 1 Glasgow, United Kingdom This is a protest against bias from the self-proclaimed “impartial” BBC. The most important issue we need to highlight is the repeated omission of relevant facts, information & answers that has kept Scotland in the dark about the real independence debate. The BBC’s coverage is ruining the run up to the biggest decision in our history. People are suitably sickened by the BBC & other mainstream media and their one sided conveyor belt of scare stories portrayed against our economic prospects, EU membership and the currency of an independent Scotland. Sometimes the bias is not in what they do cover but what they don't cover in their news & current affairs programmes. Specific examples of bias that concerns us are as follows: Make up of Question Time panels. Irish & Luxembourg EU ministers views misrepresented. UKIP promotion during EU elections. University of the West of Scotland report on bias on evening news programmes (BBC & STV) University of the West of Scotland report on bias on Radio Scotland Good Morning Scotland show The BBC's membership of the CBI which opposes independence and even tried to become an official member of the no campaign until a U turn after a mass cancellation of membership by Scottish companies. Different styles of questioning for Yes/No including more frequent interruptions from interviewers. The list goes on… Let's keep up the pressure on the old BBC and arrange their next outing as a massive anti-bias operation! Bring your saltires, banners, balloons, friends, family and loud voices. Make it a day to remember! Everyone is welcome from both sides of the debate. Groups that wish to protest about other instances of BBC bias unrelated to the independence debate are also more than welcome to attend.
